Full course description
Irish participation in World War I has long been obscured by nationalist narratives that favored independence over entanglement with Britain, leaving thousands of Irish soldiers—Catholic and Protestant alike—excluded from collective memory. Yet as literature and personal accounts reveal, their service complicates the myth of a unified Irish resistance and reminds us that national identity is rarely simple or singular.
