Full course description
Description
After Napoleon's fall in 1815, Europe sought stability through the Congress of Vienna, restoring monarchies and maintaining a balance of power that defined much of the 19th century. However, the rise of nationalism, liberalism, and industrialization reshaped the continent, leading to unifications in Italy and Germany. By the early 20th century, competing alliances, imperial rivalries, and militarization culminated in the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, shattering Europe's old order.
