Vaccines eradicated smallpox. They have prevented epidemics and pandemics. In what ways have they influenced our behaviors? What is their impact on many childhood diseases and diseases such as polio and influenza? Trace the history of vaccine development to learn how vaccines are created and their societal impact.

Steven Specter
Steven Specter, PhD Microbiology and Immunology, is Professor Emeritus in Molecular Medicine at USF's Morsani College of Medicine. He established the Annual Clinical Virology Symposium in 1985 and helps lead the American Society for Microbiology.
