Full course description
Description
Although Mary Shelley was only a teenager when Frankenstein was written, powerful lines such as "Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful” lift the creature above mere caricature. We'll explore the 1831 edition of Frankenstein and discuss why this book still resonates with us. We will cover the period in which Shelley wrote the book, engage in a close reading of the novel, and end with a look at modern-day adaptations.
